Study Timeline

Participation involves 1 or 2 visits to our department:

Visit 1:

We will ask you to complete some questionnaires about your diet, physical activity and quality of life. We then take a blood test and do an ultrasound of your liver. This visit is expected to last around an hour and is unlikely to last beyond two hours.

After this visit we will collect specific information from your electronic medical chart: age, body measurements and medication history. We will also gather details about your cancer diagnosis, including the type and stage of cancer, the treatments received, and the time since treatment.

Visit 2:

This visit is optional and only will take place if the results showed an uncertain risk for MASLD and you already consented to go in the MRI part of the study. During this visit we will repeat the blood test and liver ultrasound in our department and then accompany you within the same building for an MRI of your liver. This visit is expected to last about 2 hours.

You will be offered compensation in the form of a CHF 20 BernCity Geschenkcard, for participating in this research project.

All data collected in this study will be treated confidentially. Your personal data will be encrypted (coded) during data collection, meaning that all information which says who you are (known as identifying data) will be removed and be replaced with a unique code that allows the study team only to connect the data we need for the study.
