Data Management

The Data Management division is your partner for secure and efficient management of clinical study data across different study types and sizes. Its services include eCRF design, reporting and data visualization, data import and migration, support, change and user management.

Two clinical data management systems (REDCap® and secuTrial) and two service models are available:

  • Full Service (recommended option): Complete database setup managed by DCR Data Management according to HRA and GCP guidelines.  
  • REDCap® Light: The study team implements the database and manages everything around it. Upon request, DCR Data Management provides support during database implementation, randomization, performs a technical database review or takes over the task of archiving your database according to HRA and GCP guidelines. 
    Please note: this service is only available to members of the University of Bern and its University hospital.

Continuous updates on our systems are provided in all cases, along with
access to the community forum, manuals and the REDCap® implementation
course.

  • ! We do not recommend REDCap Light for the following scenarios: blinded studies; studies exceeding the limit of 15'000 records; studies exceeding the limit of 5'000 fields.

Accrual plots Track participant recruitment over time with customized accrual plots and dashboards. Visualize enrollment trends overall and by study site to support informed project management and forecasting.
Data Quality & Central Data Monitoring Enhance data quality and risk-based study oversight through customized central data monitoring reports. We generate query reports, data quality metrics, completeness analyses, and monitoring dashboards that help identify data issues, protocol deviations, site-specific trends, and potential risks, enabling timely intervention and informed decision-making.
Flexible Reporting Solutions

We deliver reports in a variety of formats, including interactive online dashboards, HTML reports, and PDF documents. Our solutions leverage state-of-the-art technologies such as Quarto, R Markdown, and Shiny to provide accessible and reproducible reporting. For an example, see here.
Data Migration Support We support the migration of data between clinical data management systems (CDMS), ensuring a secure, efficient, and well-documented transfer process with minimal disruption to ongoing activities.
Data Import Services Our team manages the complete data import workflow, from assessing the source data structure and mapping variables to preparing data for import and performing technical quality checks to support a reliable integration into your study database.
